If you have a large dog, your chances of protection are better as the intruder may not want to risk being attacked by the canine.

You can start a neighborhood watch which will lower the amount of home invasions. Also, purchasing in a basic alarm system for your place is not very costly and can stop a burglar in their tracks. Just remember to always set it when you leave and put the sign outside that you have a system too.
