Collectible Christmas ornaments, including nativity sets, are normally more expensive than a “normal” one, but the collections represented here are all affordable for many people.

The Christmas nativity is, of course, a focal point of the holiday season for millions of American homes, and many others around the world. While traditional nativity displays to celebrate the season have been assembled out of doors, it is common for a modern home to decorate the home at Christmas with some sort of nativity scene. Luckily, there are so many choices of nativities that decorate the indoors, and many of them are of a very high standard. And some, like the Thomas Kinkade nativity scene pictured above left, are even collectibles.

Indoor nativity scenes come in all sets of styles and sizes, with various levels of craftsmanship. The collectible ornaments you can get to enhance your Christmas decoration display are usually hand crafted and painted, sometimes fully sculptured. The collections can usually be bought one figurine at a time, but you do need to check carefully what you are buying, as often the complete nativity scene will be displayed, but your first purchase may only be a single item. So, always read the description of what you are

For your indoor nativity set there is a wonderful choice. For collectors and those who appreciate an artists touch in their Christmas ornaments, their are some well known ranges which fit the bill such as Fontanini nativity sets and those by Precious Moments.

Outdoors, Christmas decorations tend to be larger, sometimes very large or even giant. That is true of the nativity sets, scenes and figures as well as Santa Claus, reindeer, snowman and other familiar Christmas characters. For those looking for yard or garden Christmas decorations, the choice used to be small. Now, it is very wide and diverse. An outdoor nativity sets, for example, used to be mostly hand crafted, mostly from wood or sometimes stone. Today there are all sorts of choices, including prelit outdoor nativity sets, or individual prelit figures which can be set up to make a complete nativity set.

The prelit Christmas decorations for outside have been a great advance in recent years, especially for those who want to make a big splash in the neighborhood. In fact, more and more neighborhoods in the US, and around the world, become well known for their festive spirit and big displays at Christmas, attracting visitors from around the area and the country as a whole.

For your own garden Christmas decorations, the modern prelit decorations can embrace tradition through the outdoor nativity sets or pieces that are now so easy to buy. These can come in various sizes from modest to gigantic.

Some of the best indoor nativity sets are real collectors items, and based on fine works of art. They can be good enough to entice the owners, and guests, to pause a while to reflect on the nativity story and the fine detail of the nativity ornaments themselves. Within the rush of Christmas, giving such time for reflection can be a welcome relief.
