Wartime Inventions-The Positive Side Of The War

They say everything is right in love and war, but whether the war had ever been right itself is a completely new aspect of the argument. In times where everyone from the most experienced and aged politician, to the youngest beauty contest winner are all chanting about world peace, war really seems like a thing of past. However, like everything else, war does have its positive side. For instance, most of the amazing research and development was done during war times in order to achieve a winning edge which resulted in many amazing inventions and a boom in technological advancement. Most of these inventions didn’t remain restricted to military boundaries, but rather made way into civilian life. For instance, VW which was developed as a war time vehicle is now one of the best selling commercial cars. You can still get a lot of Used Volkswagen New Jersey. These Used VW NJ are available in several models, colors and enhancements.

Likewise, there are several other things that we regard as technological marvels were developed during war time. This is a truth since ancient times when heavy infantries and several types of bows and arrows were developed in order to take over the enemy forces. Few of the best instances of military research and development were seen during World War I and later in World War II and the Korean War. Let us have a look at few of the best inventions that emerged as a gift of war time measures.

2000 BC was the era of big civilizations such as Egypt, Rome, Mesopotamia and China. It isn’t much surprise that these civilizations had to declare war against each other in order to strengthen their empires. Mesopotamians were famous warriors that invented the chariot which is also the first form of military transport. It remained the very strongest land transport for centuries to come. A lot of research regarding gunpowder and explosives was done in order to design better weapons. Cannons were developed during the 17th century and were used as a powerful weapon for a long time. The idea of using gunpowder in weapons leads to the development of several guns until the machine gun and electric guns were made.

Like guns, most of the advancement in vehicles and transport means owes up to warfare research. With the development of aircrafts and jet engines, the scope of war rose to the skies as well. Today, militaries have the fastest and latest planes that can travel at speeds many times faster than sound. Another useful invention of wartime is Satellite and Radar technology which is now useful form of communication in media. The internet was also conceived during the Cold War, in around the 70s. Another now generally used military invention is the PC. It was originally designed as a machine to break enemy codes during the Second World War.

Strange enough, there are a lot of everyday use items that were initially military-specific inventions. Some examples of these items include rubber, Penicillin, Teflon and anesthesia. Therefore, since need is the mother of inventions, we can say that war is at times a necessity.
